William Ackroyd (junior) was born in 1897 the son of William Ackroyd (senior) a lace maker and Sarah Jane Ackroyd née Vickers and the brother of Edith, Dorothy May and Florence Emma Ackroyd. In 1911 they lived at 12 Russell Street Nottingham and later at 52 Norton Street, Radford. William Ackroyd (senior) was born in 1870 and Sarah Jane Vickers was born in 1878 both were born in Nottingham, they were married in 1896 at Nottingham.

Military History

Lance Corporal William Ackroyd enlisted at Nottingham, he died of wounds on 30th March 1918 and is buried at Boves West Communal Cemetery
