Father: Harvey Sheward, born in 1870 at Fladbury, Worcestershire, working as a railway guard. Mother: Emma Sheward, born in 1875 at Halam, Nottinghamshire. Brothers: Walter Harvey, born in 1899 in Nottingham, Arthur Redvers, born in May 1901 and Francis Hector, born in 1903 in Nottingham. Sisters:Edith Alice, born in 1905 in Nottingham and Florence Maud, born in 1909 in Nottingham. The family lived at 7 Baden Terrace, Meadows, Nottingham before moving to 11 Newcastle Street, Meadows, Nottingham.

Military History

William Henry Sheward volunteered for service, enlisting at Newark. Following training he was drafted to France on 25/09/1915. 'A' Battery was situated at Becourt, near Albert when Acting Bombardier Sheward was seriously wounded on 29/07/1916 and died the same day at No 5 Australian Field Ambulance He was buried at Becourt Military Cemetery, Becordel-Becourt. His brother Walter served in Salonika.

In memoriam published 29th July 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “SHEWARD. – In loving memory of our dear son and brother, Bmdr. W. H.
