James George Goodacre

James George Goodacre was born in 1886 at Radford and was the son of Samuel a stoker at gas works and the late Sarah Ann Goodacre née Woodward of 33 Beresford Street, Nottingham. His father Samuel was born in 1862 at Radford and his mother Sarah Ann Woodward was born in 1864 in Nottingham, they were married in 1882 at Nottingham and went on to have the following children, Lilly b1883, James George b1886, Samuel b1888, William Glen b1891, Lydia Pearl b1896, Florence May b1899, Rosie Mary b1901 and Clarence b1904. His mother Sarah died in 1906 at Nottingham she was 43 yrs of age. In the 1911 census his family are living at 33 Beresford Street, Nottingham and are shown as Samuel 49 yrs a widower, a stoker at gas works, he is living with his children Samuel 23 yrs a lace maker, Lydia pearl 15 yrs assisting in the house, Florence May 12 yrs a scholar, Rosie Mary 10 yrs a scholar and Clarence 7 yrs. James George has the left the family home and joined the Army by 1911 and is shown on the 1911 census as being 25 yrs a soldier in the 1st battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry in barracks at Hong Kong. James George married Ethel Rogers in 1914 at Nottingham, they lived at 93 Hawthorne Street New Basford Nottingham.
