Albert Scothern

Albert was born in Nottingham in 1878 (A/M/J Radford, mother's maiden name Bagguley). He married Yettey (also Yetty/Yettie) Alvina Bamford in 1902 (J/A/S Nottingham). Yettie was born in Nottingham on 10 October 1880 (O/N/D Nottingham, mother's maiden name Wood). Albert and Yettey had four children, all born in Nottingham: Doris Ivy b. 15 June 1903 J/A/S Nottingham), William b. 1905 (O/N/D Nottingham possibly 22 August), Edith Alice b. 11 January 1907 (J/F/M Nottingham) and Ethel Ada b. 26 July 1908 (J/A/S Nottingham). In 1911 Albert (37), a porter at a yarn warehouse, and Yettey (40) were living at 11 Alban Street, Nottingham, with their four children, Doris (7), William (5), Edith (4) and Ethel (2). The CWGC record gives the family's address as 30 Northcote Terrace, Kirke White Street, Nottingham (Meadows) but by 1939 his widow and two unmarried daughters, Edith, a hosiery lockstitch machinist and Ethel, a clerk, were living at 20 Northcote Terrace. Yettey Scothern died on 19 May 1942 (A/M/J Nottingham) aged 61. Of Yettey and Albert's children: Doris Ivy probably married Frederick Sansom in 1927 (A/M/J Nottingham) and died in 1984 (O/N/D Basford). William married Sarah A Deeman in 1927 (A/M/J Nottingham) and in 1939 they were living on Northcote Terrace, Meadows. William was a brewer's lorry driver while Sarah (b. 21 July 1907) was a lace threader. William died in 1974 (O/N/D Basford). Edith Alice was living at 20 Northcote Terrace with her mother and sister Ethel in 1939. She married John Pinnington in 1941 (J/A/S Basford) and died in 1959 (J/F/M Nottingham) aged 52. Ethel Ada was living with her mother and sister Edith at 20 Northcote Terrace in 1939. She has not yet been traced after this date.
