His pension index card shows his widow was Julia Lowe, who was born on 27th April 1863, though no address was shown. However, no service record has survived; no next-of-kin are recorded on in the register of the disposal of his personal effects; and his medals were returned post-war, suggesting that the authorities could not trace any family at that time.

Military History

Private Walter Lowe, enlisted at Sunderland and served with 1st Battalion Border Regiment, He died of wounds at sea aboard H.M.H.S. Soudan on 1st September 1915. He has no known grave is commemorated on the Helles Memorial.
