Cecil Claude Cheatle was born in 1895 he was the son of the late Walter James Cheatle a tram conductor and the late Emmeline Cheatle née Hopcroft and the brother of Minnie and Elsi Cheatle. Walter James was born in 1856 at Nottingham, he died in 1899 aged 43 yrs , Emmeline Eliza Hopcroft was born in 1858 at Thane, Oxfordshire she died in 1903 aged 45 yrs, they were married in 1875 at Nottingham, they had 7 children. In 1901 the family lived at 14 Orchard Street Greyfriar Gate Nottingham. In 1911 Cecil was boarding with his aunt an uncle Maxmillian and Elsie Boden at 3 Park Place Park Street Lenton Nottingham. Private Cecil Claude Cheatle enlisted at Leicester, he initially served with the service number 10/20353 in the Leicestershire Regiment. He was killed in action on 19th June 1917 and having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial.is buried at
