Arthur Arnold Standage was born in 1899 at Nottingham and was the son of Arthur George a levers lace maker and Mary Harriett Standage née Bull of 4 Northgate, New Basford, Nottingham. His father Arthur George was born in 1862 at Hammersmith, London, his mother Mary Harriett Bull was born in 1865 in Lenton, they were married in 1883 at Nottingham and went on to have 12 children, sadly 5 died in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children were William Arthur b1887, Harold Edwin b1894, Arthur Arnold b1899, Bernard b1900, Clara b1904, Walter Henry b1905 and Hilda Mary b1909 all were born in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 4 Northgate, New Basford, Nottingham and are shown as Arthur George Standage 49 yrs a levers lace maker, he is living with his wife Mary Harriett 46 yrs and their children, Harold Edwin 17 yrs an apprentice machine builder, Arthur Arnold 12 yrs a scholar, Bernard 11 yrs a scholar, Clara 7 yrs a scholar, Walter Henry 6 yrs a scholar, and Hilda Mary 2 yrs of age.

Military History

Private Arthur Arnold Standage enlisted at Manchester whilst residing at Basford he served with the 11th battalion Manchester Regiment, he was killed in action on 28th May 1918, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial
