He was the son of George Smith and the late Pollie Smith of Engine House Wollaton Nottingham, his father later lived at 334 Trowell Road, Wollaton, Nottingham.

Military History

Private Sidney Smith, enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Wollaton, he served with the 17th Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment (Welbeck Rangers), he was killed in action on 3rd August 1916. He is buried in Gorre British and Indian Cemetery. 2.E.24
