William Alec Seston

Willey Seston from Clowne, Derbyshire married Martha Louisa Bolas in 1885 in Sheffield. Willey was a lifelong coal miner. They had a child, William Alec in 1887 who was born in Clowne but by 1888, his mother had died age 28. In 1891, Willey was living with his parents on Nottingham Road, Clowne with son William Alec. On the night of the census, they had a visitor who was a dressmaker called Agnes Leafe. Willey must have made his acquaintance as by the end of 1891, they married. They had two girls, Agnes born 1894 and Mabel in 1896 (half - sisters to William Alec). It was only a year later in 1897 that Willey’s second wife, Agnes died age 36. In 1901, Willey was a widower head of the family living at Church Lane, Clowne with his three children and his widower father. Ten years passed and it was found that William Alec Seston had moved and was resident as a boarder at 24 Hatfield Street, Retford, working as a grocery shop assistant. Before William enlisted at Retford, his father Willey had married for the third time, to Alice Leafe, the widowed sister of his former wife, Agnes.
