Family History

Denzil Burrows Jackson was born in 1895 in Beeston and was referred to as Dennie or Dennis in the family. He was the son of Frank Smith a baker and his wife Jane Ethel Smith. (In the 1911 census Frank and Ethel state they have been married for 10 yrs and had no children it would therefore appear that Denzil was an adopted son ) In the 1911 census the family are shown living at Church Cottage Wilford, Nottingham and are shown as Frank Smith 43 yrs born 1868 at Wilford and a baker he is living with his wife Jane Ethel Smith 40 yrs b1871 Ossett, Yorkshire, and their son Denzil Burrows Jackson 16 yrs born Beeston 1895 a lathe turner in a lace factory.

Military History

Private Dennie Burrows Jackson, enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 1/1st South Notts. Hussars, he was killed in action on 21st September 1915. He is buried in Green Hill Cemetery, Suvla grave reference 1.F.23
