Family History

Reginald Thomas Harrison was born in 1897 in Thorpe Derbyshire and was the son of Thomas a farmer and Rose Annie Harrison née Rose of 120 Morley Ave, Mapperley Nottingham. His father Thomas was born in 1869 in Clifton, Derbyshire and his mother Rose Annie Rose was born in 1870 in Tittersill, Norfolk, they were married in 1895 their marriage was recorded in the Ashborne Registration District , they went on to have 4 children one of whom sadly died in infancy, their surviving children were Reginald Thomas b1897 Thorpe, Wilfred Ernald b1900 Thorpe and Constance Rubena b1907 Mayfield, Derbyshire. In 1911 they lived at Home Farm Selston Nottinghamshire and were shown as Thomas 42 yrs a farmer, he is living with his wife Rose Annie 41 yrs and their children Reginald Thomas 14 yrs a farmers son assisting on the farm, Wilfred 11 yrs and Constance 4 yrs.

Military History

Rifleman Reginald Thomas Harrison attested on 9th February 1915 in Nottingham, he gave his age as 19 yrs and seven months, (he was only 17 yrs when he died in 1915 ) his occupation as that of a butcher and his address as 120 Morley Ave, Mapperley, Nottingham, his next of kin was his father Thomas of the same address. He was posted to the 5th battalion Kings Royal Rifle Corps and joined his battalion at Winchester barracks on 11th February. He died on 2nd March 1915 at Sherness Military Hospital, the cause of death was cerebro spinal meningitis. He is buried at Sheerness Cemetery Isle Of Sheppey.
