Thomas Francis Camm was born in 1891 in Basford and was the son of Thomas a coal miner and Emily Louisa Camm née Allen of 6 Liddington Street, New Basford, Nottingham . His father Thomas was born in 1864 at Buckminster, Leicestershire and his mother Emily Louisa Allen was also born in 1864 at Whissendine, Rutland, they were married in 1889, their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration District, they went on to have 6 children, sadly 1 died in infancy, their surviving children were all born in Basford and were, Thomas Francis b1891, Edith Gertrude b1893, Evelyn Emily b1895, Beatrice Lilian b1901 and Margaret Annie b1903. In the 1911 census the family are living at 6 Liddington Street, New Basford and are shown as Thomas 47 yrs a coal miner, he is living with his wife Emily Louisa 47 yrs and their children, Tom Francis 20 yrs a hotel waiter, Edith Gertrude 18 yrs a tobacco packer, Evelyn Emily 16 yrs a lace mender, Beatrice Lillian 10 yrs a scholar and Margaret Annie 8 yrs a scholar.
Private Tom Francis Camm, enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 2nd Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers. He landed in France on 1st June 1915 and he was killed in action on 30th July 1916. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
