Charles Clark Briddon was born in 1891 at Gamston he was the son of Richard Elnor a farmer and Selina Annie Briddon née Clark of Knowts Hall, Golden Valley, Riddings, Derby.Richard was born in 1859 at Alfreton, Selina Annie Clark was born in 1868 at Gamston, they were married in 1888 their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration district, they had 5 children.In 1911 the family is living at Gamston village, Nottingham, Richard is 52 yrs and Selia Annie 42 yrs they are living with four of their children, Eric 17 yrs a farmers son working on his fathers farm, Harold Barton 15 yrs, Stuart Thomas 12 yrs and Selina Gladys 11 yrsIn 1911 Charles Clark Briddon is 19 yrs of age and a printers manager, he is visiting Selina Clark 82 yrs a widow (his grandmother at 11 Castle Street, Sneinton, Nottingham

Military History

Captain Charles Clark Briddon was commission into the York and Lancaster Regiment on 22nd December 1914. He was transferred to 177th Coy Labour Corps he died on 30th September 1917 and is buried at Dozinghem Military Cemetery (grave ref VII.F.2).
