Family History

Arthur Walker was born in 1892 at Nottingham and was the eldest son of Arthur William a blouse manufacturer and Mary Wilson who lived at the Firs Pelham Road Sherwood Rise Nottingham. Arthur and Mary had a total of nine children, five of whom survived infancy - Arthur Walker (b 1892), Fred Stanley (b 1894), Anne Violet (b 1886), Edith Mary (b 1896) and Ada Kathleen (b 1898). In 1901 the family were living at 292 Mansfield Road at Carrington along with two servants. By 1911 the family were living at 'The Firs' 21 Pelham Road Sherwood Rise Nottingham with a housemaid and a cook. Arthur Walker Wilson’s probate was proven on 29th January 1919 in Nottingham . His address was still ‘The Firs’ Pelham Road, Sherwood Rise Nottingham. His effects of £314. 8 shillings and 9 pence were awarded to Mary Wilson,widow,his mother.

Military History

Arthur was a Lieutenant and served in the 251st Brigade of the Royal Field Artillery. He died of wounds on 22nd August 1918 and is buried in Daours Communal Cemetery Extension
