Family History

He was the son of George a colliery winding engineer and Hannah (née) Norwood Silks. They had fourteen children and Luke was one of nine to survive infancy. His siblings were Lily, James, Leah May, William (killed in action 6/7/1917), Eliza, Henry, John and Ernest Norwood. In 1911 they lived at 21 Stonyford Lane and George and Hannah later moved to 57 Mason Street (both Sutton in Ashfield). He was the husband of Lucy Ann (née Kingston) Norwood (married J/F/M/1916) and the father of Ernest Norwood who was born in 1919.

Military History

He is buried in Sutton in Ashfield Cemetery.

Extra Information

His brother William also served during the Great War in the Highland Light Infantry and was killed in action on 6th July 1917.
