He was the son of George and Ellen Harris of 74 Bowne Street Sutton in Ashfield. He was the husband of Hilda Jane (née Bryan) Harris and the father of Fred Harris. In 1911 they were boarding at 60 Alfreton Road Sutton in Ashfield. Hilda married Harold Marriott at Mansfield in 1919 and they lived at 30 Swan Street Sutton in Ashfield.
