Harry Hardy was born in 1885 at Hucknall he was the son of the late David a stocking maker and Mary Hardy née Green of 38 Curtis Street, Hucknall. David was born in 1857 at Hucknall, he died in 1910 at Nottingham, Mary Green was born in 1865 at Hucknall, they were married in 1884 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they went on to have 7 children, sadly two died in infancy or early childhood. Harry married Rhoda Spinks (born 1886) in 1904 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they lived at 32 Curtis Street, Hucknall they had two children, Albert Henry born 1908 and Gladys May born 1910. In the 1911 cenus the family are living at 32 Curtis Street, Hucknall, Harry 26 yrs is a coal miner loader, he is living with his wife Rhoda 25 yrs and their children, Albert Henry 3 yrs and Gladys May 1 year of age. In the same 1911 census his widow mother is living at 38 Curtis Street, Hucknall she is shown as Mary 46 yrs a slip worker widow she is living with her children, Flora 21 yrs and Arthur 17 yrs.
Private Harry Hardy enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Hucknall, he served with the Kin’s Liverpool Regiment, he was killed in action on 19th May 1915 and having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial,
