He was the son of Frederick and Eliza Turney and the brother of Fred, William, Arthur Gordon and Harry Turney. The Turneys were eminent Nottingham leather manufacturers who lived at 5 Winchester Street,14 Ebury Road, Gedling House (all Nottingham) and later at Grosvenor Lodge, 27, Grosvenor Rd., Bournemouth. William was killed in action 10/7/1916.
