Arthur Bradley was baptised on 24th June 1883 at St John’s Nottingham, he was the son of the late John Bradley a painter and Jane Bradley née Selby of Sussex Street, Nottingham. His father John was born in 1841 at Nottingham, he died in 1882 aged 41 yrs, his mother Jane Selby was born in 1840 at Nottingham, they were married in 1858 at Nottingham, they had 17 children, sadly 8 were to die in infancy or early childhood In the 1911 census his widowed mother Jane 72 years was living at 9 Swann Yard, Pelican Street, Nottingham, she is living with her son Arthur 29 yrs a painters labourer, no other children are living at home on this date. Arthur married Mabel Allen (born 28th September 1892) on 3rd September 1912 at Christ Church, Radford, they lived at 28 Chapel Street, Radford, they had a son John born 16th January 1913. Following his death his widow was awarded a pension of 15 shillings a week which commenced on 4th October 1916. His widow re married on 25th December 1916 to Thomas Garrett.
Lance Corporal Arthur Bradley enlisted at Nottingham, he served with 2nd battalion Leicestershire Regiment. He was killed in action on 13th March 1915 and is buried in the Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery, Soucheze
Nottingham Evening Post obituary (abridged) 7 April 1915: 'Bradley. Killed in action between March 10th and 13th, Lance Corporal Bradley, 2nd Leicesters, aged 32, only son of Jane and the late John Bradley late of Sussex Street.'
