Arthur Edward Beach was born in 1889 in Nottingham and was the son of George Frederick a leather dresser, and Sarah Beach née Moore. They lived at 36 North Road and later at 14 Portland Road (both West Bridgford Nottingham). His father was born in 1855 in Southwark, London and his mother Sarah Ann Moore was born in 1856 Coventry. They were married in 1885; their marriage was recorded in the Kidderminster registration district. Sarah brought one child to the marriage, Martha Anne Moore b1877 in Cannock, Staffordshire. They went on to have 9 children, Maude Elizabeth b1887 West Bridgford, Arthur b1889 West Bridgford, Horace Fred b1891 Nottm, Evaline May b1892 Nottm, Harry b1894 Nottm, Lilian Beatrice b1895 Nottm, Mariam Grace b1896 Nottm, Ethel b1897 Nottm and Leonard Ernest b1899 Nottm. In the 1911 census the family are living at 36 North Road, West Bridgford, and are shown as George Frederick 56 yrs a leather dresser, who is living with his wife Sarah aged 55 yrs and their stepdaughter Martha Anne Moore 34 yrs a blouse designer and their children Maude Elizabeth 24 yrs a blouse hand, Horace Fred 20 yrs a butcher, Evaline May 19 yrs a lace worker, Harry 17 yrs a carpenter, Lilian Beatrice 16 yrs a pattern girl, Miriam Grace 15 yrs no occupation, Ethel 14 yrs a scholar and Leonard Ernest 12 yrs a scholar. Arthur has left the family home by the time of the 1911 and is boarding at 35 Grosvenor Street, Bedford. He is shown as being single 23 yrs a cutter/grinder and is living with William John Kethcen a woodworking machinist and his family.
9th Bn Worcestershire Regiment. Arthur Edward Beach, enlisted at East Ham, London, and served with the 9th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment. He died of wounds at Gallipoli 10th August 1915,[1] and his name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Gallipoli. [1] 'Nottingham Evening Post,' 4th January 1916, The newspaper caption below his photograph gives his date of death as 10th October 1915. It also stated that he had been wounded at Ypres, though his medal index card shows no service overseas prior to landing at Gallipoli.

He landed in Egypt on 26th April 1915 and was killed in action on 28th November 1917. He is buried in Ramleh War Cemetery, Israel, grave reference F 29. (See ROH, Harry Beach)
