Leonard James Doughton was born in 1894 the son of John a boiler worker for the local council and Sarah Doughton née Farnsworth and the brother of George Reginald, Evelyn Annie, Violet Irene, Kathleen May Doughton of 7 Hodgkinson Road, Kirkby in Ashfield. John was born in 1868 at Royston, Hertfordshire, Sarah Farnsworth was born in 1873 at Riddings, Derbyshire, married in 1890 their marriage was recorded in the Belper registration district the family lived at Cobden Street East Kirkby in 1911

Military History

Private Leonard Doughton enlisted at Mansfield whilst residing at East Kirkby, initially serving with the service number 116100 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment he was killed in action on 24th October 1918 and is buried at Giavera British Cemetery Giavera del Montello, Provincia di Treviso, Veneto, Italy
