Thomas George Crockett was born in 1885 at Stafford and was the son of the late Thomas a cellerman and Fanny Crockett née Watwood of 23 New Mill Street, Dudley. His father Thomas was born in 1838 at Worcester he died in 1896 aged 57 yrs the death was recorded in the Dudley registration area and his mother Fanny Watwood was born in 1846 at Stafford, they were married in 1884 their marriage was recorded in the Stafford registration area, they went on to have a daughter Phoebe born 1887 at Stafford. In the 1911 census Thomas George is living at 21 Milton Street, East Kirkby , he is shown as being a boarder 24 yrs single a coal miner, he is living with George Wilcox 38 yrs a coal miner hewer and his family. In 1915 he married his wife Mary E Scotney, their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district. Both his mother Fanny and wife Mary are both shown as his legatees on the soldiers effects register.
Private Thomas George Crockett enlisted at Birmingham, he was a pre-war soldier who had served in the 2nd and 3rd Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers prior to joining the 1st Battalion. He entered the theatre of war on 22nd August 1914 in France, he was serving in Gallipoli when he was wounded and was evacuated to Mudros, Lesbos Greece where he died of wounds on 15th June 1915. He is buried at East Mudros Military Cemetery, Lesbos, Greece.
