Family History

Father:Thomas Trafford Key, born in 1864 in Lincoln and working as a grocer. Mother: Mary Ann Key, born in 1867 at Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. Sister: Lilian Sphia, born in 1892 at Grantham and working as a grocer's clerk. One other child died in infancy. The family lived at 224 Windmill Lane, Sneinton, Nottingham.

Military History

Horace served with the Royal Field Artillery "D" Battery 123rd Brigade and went to France 1 August 1915. He died of his wounds. He was buried at the Achiet le Grand Communal Cemetery Extension in the Pas de Calais region of France. He was also commemorated on his parents grave in Carlton Cemetery. He was eligible for the British, Victory and 1915 Star medals
