Bombardier Boot enlisted on September 10th. Prior to the war he was employed by the Kirkby-in-Ashfield Co-operative Society. The sad news of his death was conveyed to Mr. and Mrs. Boot, whose home is at 28, Welbeck-street, East Kirkby, by an officer of his company, who stated that at the time the bullet struck him he had just finished – and finished well – a highly dangerous piece of work.
