Family History

Herbert Rogers was born in 1890 the son of John a colliery banksman and Harriet Rogers née Topham of 7 King Street, Kirkby in Ashfield. John was born in 1854 at Penn, Buckinghamshire, Harriett Topham was born in 1858 at Annesley, married in 1878 at Nottingham they went on to have 10 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 they lived on Lindleys Lane, Kirkby in Ashfield Nottinghamshire.

Military History

Rifleman Herbert Rogers enlisted at Mansfield, he landed in France on 16th July 1915 and died of wounds on 23rd September 1916 and is buried at St Severs Cemetery, Rouen, France.
