Father: Lawrence Sullivan, born in 1866 at New Healand, Plymouth, New Zealand, working as a male nurse. Mother: Harriet Elizabeth Sullivan, born in 1867 at Derby. Brothers: Lawrence M., born in 1894 in Derby, Dennis Alliso, born in 1897 in Derby and working as the town carter, and Norman Robert, born December 1, 1901 in Derby. Sister: Eileen A., born in 1896 in Derby. The family lived at 81 Goldsmith Street, Nottingham.

Military History

Sullivan volunteered for service on August 8, 1914, and after training he was drafted to France the following year. He was formerly No. 7973 in the Royal Army Service Corps, but was later posted to 'D' Company, 9th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, and whilst with them he won the Military Medal for gallantry. He was involved in the fighting round Monchy le Preux and was killed in action on 26/09/1917. He was buried at Monchy British Cemetery, Grave Reference: I N 1
