Family History

George Francis Allin was born in 1897 the son of Edmund a coal miner hewer and the late Eliza Jane Allin née Mottishaw and the brother of Harriett, Clara and Doris Allin. In 1911 they lived at 14 Queen's Street Kirkby in Ashfield. Edmund Allin was born in 1858 at Kirkby , Eliza Jane Mottishaw was born in 1866 also at Kirkby she died in 1901 aged 35 yrs, married in 1886 at Nottingham, they had 5 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood.

Military History

Private George Francis Allin enlisted at Nottingham on 14th August 1914 giving his age as 18 yrs and 66 days, he was a coal miner and his next of kin was his father Edmund. He went to France on 9th June 1917 and was killed in action on 30th July 1917 whilst serving in the trenches near Philosophe, France. Buried Philosophe British Cemetery, Mazingarbe, France. Plot 1, Row U, Grave 4.
