Arthur Parr was born in 1894 he was the son of George a labourer and Mary Elizabeth Parr née Ridge of Norwell Village. George was born in 1864 at Norwell, Mary Elizabeth Ridge was born in 1867 at Caunton, they were married in 1899 their marriage was recorded in the Southwell registration district, they went on to have 5 children, In 1911 his parents were living at Norwell village, George is 48 yrs a labourer, he is living with his wife Mary Elizabeth 44 yrs and their daughter Edith 9 yrs In 1911 Arthur has left the family home, he is living at Copthorne Farm, Moorhouse, Newark, he is 17 yrs single and is a cowman on the farm he is living with William George Quibell 28 yrs a farmer and his family

Military History

Private Arthur Parr enlisted at Newark, he initially served with the service number 203298 in the North Staffordshire Regiment. 1st (City of London) Bn. (Royal Fusiliers) London Regiment, posted to 20th (Service) Bn. (3rd Public Schools) Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment) He was killed in action on 28th November 1917 and is buried at Tyne Cot Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium (grave ref 18.H.9)
