Military History

Private Albert Duke, 7th Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment (Robin Hood Rifles). He served in France from 25 June 1915 and he died of pneumonia on 11th November 1918. He is buried in Nottingham General Cemetery.(16839). Awarded 1914/15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal.

Death notice published 30th November 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “DUKE. - On the 11th inst., at military hospital, of pneumonia, died whilst home on leave from France, after four years' active service, Pte. Albert Duke, F.S.C., the dearly beloved son of Hannah Wilford, and stepson of the late Thomson Wilford, aged 22 years.
