Albert Arthur Rosenthal was born in 1891 at Derby and was the son of Herbert an auctioneer and Mary Ann Rosenthal née Roberts of 128 Gregory Boulevard, Nottingham. His father Herbert Arthur was born in 1866 at Barnsley and his mother Mary Ann Roberts was born in 1865 at Rhyl, North Wales, they were married in 1890 at St Asaph, Wales, they had the following children, Maud b1887 Rhyl, Albert Arthur b1891 Derby, Charles Henry b1893 Derby, Archibald b1895 Derby, Robert Fredrick b1897 Derby, Minnie Matilda b1898, Ernest Edward b1901 Derby, Hilda May b1904 Derby and Clarice Evelyn Rosenthal b1909 Derby In the 1911 census the family are living at 56 Goodacre Street, Derby and are shown as Herbert Arthur Rosenthal 45 yrs an auctioneer, he is living with his wife Mary Ann 46 yrs and their children, Maud 23 yrs a confectioners assistant, Albert Arthur 20 yrs a biocope operator, Charles Henry 18 yrs a butchers assistant, Archibald 16 yrs an errand boy, Robert Fred 14 yrs an errand boy, Minnie Matilda 12 yrs a scholar, Edwards 10 yrs a scholar, Hilda May 7 yrs a scholar and Clarice Evelyn 2 yrs.

Military History

Gunner Albert Arthur Rosenthal enlisted at Birmingham whilst residing at the town, he initially served with the service number 32183 in the Machine Gun Corps, he was serving with 'B' Battery 153rd Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. He died of wounds on 2nd July 1917 and is buried at Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension, Nord
