Family History

Walter Stroyan Bridge was born in 1883 and was the son of Henry a marble polisher and Harriett Bridge, née Punchaby of Walls Green Ashford in the Water. Henry was born in 1838 at Ashfordby, he died in 1896 aged 58 yrs, Harriett Punchaby was born in 1842 at Bakewell, she died in 1904 aged 63 yrs, they were married in 1866 their marriage was recorded in the Sheffield Registration district, Walter lived with his brother Francis and family in 1911 at 7 Hazelwood Road Hyson Green Nottingham.

Military History

Sergeant Walter Bridge enlisted at Nottingham he was killed in action on 1st August 1916 during a raid on the German trenches at Givenchy, France. Buried : Gorre British and Indian Cemetery, France. Plot 2. Row E. Grave 18.
