Family History

Joseph was born in 1889 the son of George a general labourer and Mary Myatt née Barratt, of 22 Player Street Radford Nottingham. His father was born in 1847 at Earl Shilton, Leicestershire and his mother in 1853 at Nottingham. They were married in 1875 at Nottingham and had nine children, three of whom died in infancy. Joseph’s surviving siblings were George b.1876 Lenton, Ernest b.1882 Nottingham, Mary b.1884 Nottingham, Harry b.1887, Radford and Edith b.1895 in Radford. His father George died in 1908 in Nottingham aged 62.

Military History

Private Joseph Myatt, enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 1/8th Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment, he was killed in action 4th March 1917 in an operation following-up the German withdrawal to the Hindenburg Line. He is buried in Foncquevillers Military Cemetery Grave Reference: II D 10
