Herbert Sully was born in 1895 in Hyson Green, Nottingham and was the son of Ann Sully (Born 1862 Nottingham) In the 1901 census the family are living at 3 Chelsea St, Basford, and are shown as Ann 39 yrs head of the family, married and a lace mender working at home, she is living at the address with her 2 sons James 10 yrs and Herbert 6 yrs, also at the address is John Sully 75 yrs her father in law b1826 at Arnold.

Military History

Pte. Herbert Sully, enlisted in Nottingham and served with the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire) Regiment, he was killed in action on 29th November 1914. He is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial.
