John Thomas Sterman (junior) was born in 1887 at Radford, the son of John Thomas Sterman (senior) a brick layers labourer and Mary Ann Sterman née Richardson of 7 Lenton Street Hyson Green Nottingham. John Thomas Sterman (senior) was born in 1861 at Melton, Leicestershire, Mary Ann Richardson was also born in 1861 at Newark, married in 1883 at Nottingham they went on to have 15 children, sadly 7 were to die in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family lived at Lenton Street, Hyson Green, Nottingham, John Thomas is 50 yrs and a brick layers labourer.

Military History

Private John Thomas Sterman enlisted at Nottingham, he landed in France on 4th November 1916 and was killed in action on 26th October 1917. He is buried at Sucrerie Cemetery Ablain-St Nazaire
