Frederick George Sladen was born in 1890 and was the eldest son of Frederick a lace curtain maker and Ada Sladen née Carver of 17 Lake Street, Southey Street, Hyson Green Nottingham. His father Fred was born in 1867 at Nottingham and his mother Ada Carver was born in 1868 at Basford, they were married in 1889 at Nottingham and went on to have the following children, Nellie b1892 Nottm, Harry b1894 Nottm, Annie b1897 Nottm, James William b1902 Nottm, Elsie b1903 Beeston, Dora b1905 Beeston, Arthur b1909 Nottm and Ada b1910 Nottm. In the 1911 census the family are living AT 17 Lake Street, Nottingham and are shown as Fred 44 yrs a lace curtain maker he is living wit his wife Ada 43 yrs and their children, Fred 21 yrs a threader, Nellie 19 yrs a slip winder, Harry 17 yrs a threader, Annie 14 yrs, James William 9 yrs, Elsie 8 yrs, Dora 6 yrs, Arthur 2 yrs and Ada 1 yrs old.

Military History

Private Frederick George Sladen served with the 3rd battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, he landed in France on 15th July 1915. He died on 28th February 1919 whilst at home on demobilisation leave, he is buried in the Nottingham Northern Cemetery
