Family History

Archie Saunt was born in 1891 in Nottingham and was the son of William a cigar maker and Lucy Saunt née Warner of 120 Birkin Avenue Nottingham. His father William ws born in 1853 in Leicester, his mother Lucy Warner was born in Bilsdon, Leicestershire, they were married in 1874 in Leicester and went on to have 12 children , sadly 7 of their children died in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children were; Rose Olive b1879 Leicester, Louis b1884 Nottingham, Albert b1891 Nottingham, Archie b1891 Nottingham and Lilly b1895 in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 120 Birkin Ave, Hyson Green, Nottingham and are shown as William 58 yrs an unemployed cigar maker, he is living with his wife Lucy 58 yrs and their children Archie 20 yrs a grocers assistant and Lily 16 yrs a lace embroider.

Military History

Rifleman Archie Saunt, enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 13th Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps. He landed in France on 31st July 1915 and he died of wounds on 10th December 1915. He is buried in Henu Churchyard, Pas De Calais, France.
