Family History

Albert Holmes (junior) was born in 1876 at Nottingham the son of the late Albert Holmes (senior) a lace maker and Emma Holmes née Storer of Bailey Street, Old Basford. Albert (senior) was born 1837 at Sherwood he died in 1909 aged 72 yrs, Emma Storer was born 1838 at Hyson Green, married on 1st September 1858 they went on to have 9 children. Albert (junior) married Frances Ruth Kirk in 1903 at Nottingham, they had the following children, Albert Edward 1904, Margaret b1905 , Stephen b1908. Frances b1910 and and William Holmes b1911. In 1911 the family lived at 17 Acourt Street Hyson Green Nottingham, Albert (junior) is 35 yrs of age and is a twisthand lace maker.

Military History

Private Albert Holmes enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 2/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was discharged on 26th May 1916 and died of disease on 2nd October 1919 and is buried at Nottingham General Cemetery.
