Edgar Charles Enticott was born in 1894 the son of the late Frank a green grocer and the late Lydia Enticott née Beer of 321 Radford Road, Nottingham and the brother of Frank, Arthur, Ethel, and Albert Edward Enticott. Frank was born in 1859 at Axminster he died in 1905 aged 46 yrs Lydia Beer was born in 1861 at Uplyme, Devon she died in 1914 aged 53 yrs, they were married in 1884 at Axminster In 1911 the family lived at 321 Radford Road Hyson Green Nottingham. Edgar married Ethel Cumberland (born 24th May 1889) on 27th September 1913 at St Georges Church, Nottingham, they lived at 28 Rutland Street, The Meadows, Nottingham Ethel brought a child to the marriage, Ivy Cumberland born 29th July 1910 and they had a further child jessie Lydia Enticott born 28th June 1914 . the family later lived at 8 The Grove Haydn Avenue Sherwood Nottingham. Commencing 8th May 1916 his widow was awarded a pension of 18 shillings and 6 pence a week.
Private Edgar Charles Enticott enlisted on 3rd September 1914 at London, giving his age as 22 yrs, his occupation was that of a shunter, he served with the 6th battalion The Buffs (East Kent Regiment) landing in France on 1st June 1915 he was killed in action on 13th October 1915, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
His brother Albert Edward Enticott also served and died in the 'Great War' he served as J/66195 as Ordinary Seaman in the Royal Navy he served on HMS Gaillardia and died on the 22nd March 1918, having no local connection he is not shown on this Roll of Honour.
