George Dutton was born in 1887 and was the son of the late William a club steward and Jane Dutton née Spooner of 79 Kirkstead Street Hyson Green, His father William was born in 1843 in Nottingham and died in Nottingham in 1892 aged 49 yrs and his mother Jane Spooner born 1847 in Radford, they were married in 1866 in Radford and went on to have the following children, William b1877, Samuel b1879, Elizabeth b1881, Catherine b1884 and George b1887 , all were born in Hyson Green. George married Kate Alice Woodward on 1st May 1909 at the Nottingham Registry Office, they went on to have 3 children, Ethel May born 12th December 1911, Beatrice Nellie born 21st November 1913 and George William born 8th May 1916. they lived at 24 Hyson Street Hyson Green Nottingham. Following his death his widow was awarded a pension of 26 shillings and 3 pence a week for herself and their 3 children.

Military History

Sapper George Dutton enlisted on 18th February 1915 at Nottingham, he gave his age as 27 yrs and 11 months , his address as 24 Hyson Street, Hyson Green, Nottingham, he gave his occupation as that of a carpenter and his next of kin as his wife Kate Alice Dutton of the same address .He served with the 146th Army Troops Company Royal Engineers and landed in France on 7th October 1916. He died of wounds on 2nd May 1917 and is buried at Duisans British Cemetery, Etrun
