He was the son of Henry Edward Banks and Louise Ann Brown. He was the brother of Louise Lavinia and Wilfred Harold Brown. In 1911 they lived at 40 Albert Avenue Nottingham. Henry and Louise Brown later moved to 107 Birkin Avenue Hyson Green Nottingham.
He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
Nottingham Evening Post obituary (abridged), 21 July 1917: ‘Brown. Reported missing June 10th now reported killed July 10th, Private RH (Harry) Brown, KOYLI, age 19, eldest son of Mr and Mrs H Brown, 107 Birkin Avenue. Mother, father, sister Vinnie, brother Wilfred.’ Research Rachel Farrand
