Frederick Robert Henley was born in 1896 at Nottingham, the son of Fred a compositor and Annie Louisa Henley née Bates of 18 Twells Street, Nottingham. Fred Henley, was born in 1866, Card, Somerset, Annie Bates Henley, born 1870 at Wymeswold, Leicestershire married in 1894 their marriage was recorded in the Nottingham registration district, they had 5 children, Walter, born in 1900 at Nottingham. Elizabeth, born in 1895 in Nottingham, Ellen born 1906 at Nottingham. The family lived at 2 Twells Street, Nottingham before moving to 18 Twells street.

Military History

Private Frederick Robert Henley volunteered for service and following training was drafted to France on 15/12/1915. He survived until 08/01/1918 when he was killed in action during a 'quiet' period in the Ypres Salient. His body was never finally recovered but his name was commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
