Family History

Father: Arthur Blankley, born 1867 at Arnold, Nottinghamshire, and working as a lace warehouseman. Mother: Stella Blankley, born 1867 at Arnold. He had three sisters; Hilda, born 1895, and working as a lace jennies, Winifred, born 1896 and Doris, born 1900. All the children were born in Arnold. The family lived at 57 Lord Nelson Street, Nottingham , before moving to 87 Sneinton Dale, Nottingham.

Military History

Pte. Blankley was called up for service and following training he was drafted to France. He was killed in action in the Langemark area of the Ypres Salient during the Battle of Passchendaele and was buried at Cement House Cemetery.
