Father: John W. Bradbury, born in 1853 at Osbaston, Leicestershire and working as a tailor. Mother: Mary Bradbury, born in 1852 in Barton, Lancashire and working by assisting in her husband's business. (C. 1911) Brother:Horace, born in 1895 and working as a butcher. Sisters: Laura, born in 1881 at barton and working as a lace mender, Ellen, born in 1884, at Barton and working as a pattern girl, Marguerite, born in 1889 in Nottingham and working as a blouse folder and Edith, born in 1891 and employed as a lace worker. The family lived at 15 Northumberland Street, Nottingham, but later moved to 22 Curzon Street, Nottingham.
Cpl.Bradbury attested on 12/06/1915 and was posted to 17th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Welbeck Rifles). He was appointed lance corporal on 17/08/1915 and promoted to corporal on 07/02/1916. He arrived in France on 06/03/1916, but was killed in action in northern France on 12/07/1916. He was buried at Le Touret Military Cemetery, Richebourg-L'Avoue
Obituary published 24th July 1916 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- BRADBURY. – Killed in action, July 12th, Corporal Neville S. Bradbury, 22, Curzon-street, aged 24 years. Dearly loved. – Sorrowing father, mother, brothers, and sisters.” In memoriam published 12th July 1917 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “BRADBURY. – In affectionate remembrance of our dear Neville, Corporal Bradbury, killed in action July 12th, 1916. He loved well, and was well beloved. – Father, mother, brothers, sisters, 22, Curzon-street, and Horace (in France).” Above obituary and in memoriam are courtesy of Jim Grundy and his facebook pages Small Town Great War Hucknall 1914-1918 His brother Horace also served in France with 1st Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment, who landed with the battalion in France on 4th November 1914. He later transferred to the Royal Engineers.
