He married his wife Violet Ethel Dickinson in 1912 in Nottingham they lived at 21 Church Street, Stapleford, Nottingham. In the 1911 census George Henry is shown as being 31 yrs single a tanners labourer he is living at 1 Duke Wellington's Gardens, Newark Street, Sneinton Nottingham, and is shown living with his mother Sarah Ann Smith 55 yrs , head of the family a hosiery winder (his mother had remarried Thomas Smith in 1890 in Nottingham)
Rifleman George Henry Wardle, enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 1st Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps. He landed in France on 23rd November 1914 and was killed in action on 27th July 1916. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
