He was the son of Henry and Mary Hodson of Nottingham. He was the husband of Gertrude (née Chadbourne) Hodson and the father of Clarice and William Hodson. In 1911 they lived on West Hill Skegby Mansfield. Gertrude married George Walker in 1919 and they lived at 5 Sookholme Road Shirebrook Mansfield.
