William Bloor was born on 29th October 1894 at Horsley, he was baptised on 15th May 1896 at Horsley parish church, he was the son of Samuel a farm labourer and Eliza Bloor néé Woodhouse and the brother of Xavier, Eva, Priscilla, Ada Mary, Alfred and Agnes Bloor of 153 Nottingham Road, Trowell, Nottinghamshire,

His father Samuel was born in 1865 at Little Eaton, Derbyshire, his mother Eliza Woodhouse was born in 1867 at Horsley, Derbyshire, they were married on 10th April 1887 at St Werburgh Church, Derby they went on to have 10 children,

In the 1911 census thefamily lived at Swansea Cottages Trowell Nottinghamshire Samuel 46 yrs is a farm labourer, he is living with his wife Eliza 44 yrs and their children, Xavier 19 yrs a farm waggoner, William 16 yrs a farm cowman, Eva 12 yrs, Pricilla 10 yrs, Ada Mary 7 yrs, Alfred 4 yrs and Agnes 3 yrs of age.

Military history

Private William Bloor enlisted at Ilkeston. initially serving with the service number 73674 in the Royal Field Artlliery he later transferred to the 4th battalion Royal Fusiliers, he died of wounds on 24th October 1916 he is buried at Varnnes Military Cemetery, France
