He was born about 1889, the only child of Thomas and Ada Gravaline Guilor. Thomas was born in Sheffield while Ada was from Mansfield. In 1901 Thomas, Ada and Harold (12) were living at 27 Princes Street, Mansfield. Thomas was a railway engine driver. Ten years later in 1911 Thomas was a licensed victualler and the family was living at Yew Tree Farm, Woodhouse Road, Mansfield. Also in the household was Thomas' cousin, Herbert Renshaw (52) a widower, a boarder, Charles Frederick Moran (23) and one servant, Emily Barrows (22). Harold married Mary Ann Frost in 1914 (A/M/J), registration district Mansfield. Mary Ann was born in Mansfield in 1887 and in 1911 was living with her married brother at 6 Clumber Street, Mansfield; she was working as a confectioners' assistant. Ada was named as her husband's legatee. One record shows that they were living in Wolverhampton at the time of his death. Harold's mother died 10 November 1923 aged 62 and his father on 26 December 1936 aged 73.
Formerly 45356, Notts and Derby Regt. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial. He qualified for the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
Inscription on family gravestone, Mansfield (Nottingham Road) Cemetery: 'In loving memory of Ada Gravalina, the beloved wife of Thomas Guilor who passed away Nov. 10th 1923 in her 63rd year. Her end was peace. Also Thomas Guilor husband of the above who died Dec. 26th 1936 aged 73 years. Reunited. Also Harold, their son, killed in action in France, Aug. 12th 1918 aged 29 (sic) years.' Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord.' Article published 6th December 1918 I the Mansfield Reporter and Sutton Times :- “Mansfield Publican's Son Killed in France. “We regret to announce the death of Pte. H. Guilor, 22, Orchard-street, Mansfield, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Guilor, of the Yew Tree Inn, Woodhouse-road, who fell in action in France, at Parvillers, on August 11th. It was whilst attacking a strong enemy position that he fell. The deceased was 29 years of age, was married, and leaves a widow and child.
