Thomas William Moore was born in 1898 at Hucknall and was the son of William a coal miner loader and Elizabeth Moore née Scrimshaw of 28 Baker Street, Hucknall, Nottingham. His father William was born in 1868 at Pinxton and his mother Elizabeth Scrimshaw was born in 1871 at Hucknall, they were married in 1891 their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration district, they went on to have 9 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children were Hannah 1892, Samuel b1893, Thomas William b1898, Elsie b1900, Albert b1902,Mabel b1907, Eric b1910 and Enid Marjorie Moore b1911 all were born at Hucknall. In the 1911 census the family lived at 28 Mill Yard Hucknall Torkard Nottinghamshire, they were shown as William 43 yrs a coal miner loader, he is living with his wife Elizabeth 40 yrs and their children Hannah 19 yrs no occupation listed, Samuel 18 yrs a coal miner rope man Thomas William 13 yrs a scholar, Elsie 11 yrs a scholar, Albert 9 yrs a scholar, Mabel 4 yrs, Eric 1 year old and Enid Marjorie 1 month old.

Military History

Private Thomas William Moore enlisted at Hucknall he served with the 7th battalion The Buffs (East Kent Regiment), he was killed in action on 22nd August 1918 he is buried at Albert Communal Cemetery Extension, Somme France.
