Private Sydney Peat, served with the 1st Battalion Cameronians (Scottish Rifles), he was killed in action on 20th May 1917. He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.

This man is commemorated in a book of remembrance held by Mansfield District Council. Article published 15th June 1917 in the Mansfield Reporter and Sutton Times :- “TWO MANSFIELD PRIVATES KILLED “Mr. and Mrs. Dewis Wilson, [1] of 1, Whyatt's Yard, Clumber-street, have received the sad intelligence that their son, Private Arthur Wilson, of the Scottish Rifles, has been killed in action in France. “Private Sidney Peat, of Bleak Hills, in the same regiment, has also been killed in action.” [1] Pte. Arthur Wilson, 5/6th Battalion Cameronians (Scottish Rifles), was killed in action on 20th May 1917. He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
