George Wilford was born in 1899 the son of John Wilford a bricklayer’s labourer and Jane Wilford née Price. John was born in 1867 in Nottinghamshire and his mother Jane Price was born in 1852 at Ruddington. Married in1895, they had six children four surviving infancy - Elsie b1897, James b1897, George b1899 and Nellie b1909 all of whom were born in Ruddington. In 1911 they lived on Widdowson Row, Church Street, Ruddington. Elsie 14 was a hosiery workerand James a lace worker.
